James Neal to the IR, Beau Bennett Day-to-Day, Harry Z called up
Hectic times for the Pittsburgh Penguins right now as they have placed James Neal on the injured-reserve. The Pens already have one of their other star players on the IR in Kris Letang, and Neal now joins him. The Pens also have listed winger Beau Bennett as a day-to-day status.
It looks as though Bennett will not play tonight, which puts both he and Neal out of the lineup for tonight's game against the Edmonton Oilers. That will place Chuck Kobasew on the second line with Evgeni Malkin and Jussi Jokinen.
The Pens have also called up Harry Zolnierczyk from Wilkes-Barre Scranton. Zolnierczyk, who was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks has actually been doing pretty well this year as he is currently tied for the team lead with three goals. Zolneircyzk, also known as "Harry Z" had a really good camp and could be a great 4th line guy and agitator for the Pens.
"Harry Z. had a great camp. Not surprised to see him get called up. Will add speed, physical play, possible danger for opposition"- Josh Yohe from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
As for Neal, they could end up putting him on the LTIR, which means he would have to miss at least ten games so his salary won't count against the salary cap. Reminder kids, whiffle-ball can be extremely dangerous, even for professional hockey players.
